1. CSI Incubating ChangeCamp 2010

We are delighted to announce that we have agreed to incubate the 2010 ChangeCamp project! ChangeCamp is an event format, a community, and a set of tools and ideas designed to give citizens and governments the ability to work collaboratively in new ways to make change and to better address real-world challenges in our communities.

The incubation will include access to space, administrative support, and national networks of expertise (and potential funders). The goal of this incubation project is to launch a self-sustaining nonprofit organization that can support the community, develop and share innovative civic engagement models and methods while creating tools that can be used by community organizers everywhere.

Many of you probably have heard of podcasts. A Podcast is just an audio file that is syndicated via an RSS feed, that you download and listen to with your computer or a portable device such as an iPod. It's similar to having your own radio talk show, with topics ranging from health, arts & culture or raising awareness for social causes. For this meet up we will feature two organizations that have been using podcasts and we will take you through the steps of how to make one yourself!

Guest Speakers: Justin Kozuch from Refresh Events, Maria Moriarty and Monika Jankowska-Pacyna from AlphaPlus Centre will be sharing best practices and the steps necessary to make your own podcast. To register, please RSVP here or email us at team@techsoupcanada.ca.

The real test of facilitating or leading a group happens not when groups are in harmony, but when differences emerge. Many of us tend to contract, to take one side over another, to want to control or direct group response when this happens. How do we stay open to the transformational learning possible in times of conflict? This one-day primer on facilitating group differences offers a framework and different techniques and tools for what to do when things get rocky.

This program is intended to build on and deepen facilitation skills and is for anyone in situations where skillful navigation of differences is required whether in a unionized environment, school classroom, coalition process, or other organizational context. Prior experience facilitating is required or completion of the Authentic Facilitation Level I . Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have questions concerning this prerequisite.
