As thermostats are cranked up and we bunker down for the winter (especially in this hemisphere), we look inward. Economic indicators say that the next 12 months will be uncertain. What is certain however is that more time will be spent at home with family and friends... all the more reason to invest in the nest ...International fashion label, Kenzo recently launched KENZO MAISON. Like the fashion brand, textiles are a cheerful ethnic and romantic mix; pairing bold bright floral patterns with earthy stripes...and soon to be available in Toronto through JOHN PAUL & COMPANY, who will be representing other fashion-label-for-the-home-brands MISSONI HOME and FENDI CASA... another brand synonymous with style is Italian furniture manufacturer GIORGETTI. Founded in 1898 and represented in Toronto by POI BUSINESS INTERIORS, Giorgetti is about workmanship and attention to detail. While manufactured, each piece has the imprint of a carpenter's skill and craftsmanship...each hinge and drawer pull is full of intent. With a showroom on the uber chic via Montenapoleone in Milan, everything they do is done right. The Yfi daybed and sofa are made of long quilted strips and cold expanded polyurethane foam encased with a steel structure upholstered in leather. Designed by Architect Chi Wing Lo (an '86 University of Toronto Architecture grad!), his award-winning Athens-based firm is credited with the New Acropolis Museum... another master architect, Piero Lissoni is the creative genius behind BY New York, the SOHO penthouse lifestyle shop featuring PORRO and LIVING DIVANI...he is also responsible for the minimal clean style, of the latter. Lissoni's airy and light carbon frog lounge for Living Divani, available in a limited edition, is a good example... as is the Scandinavian inspired Sdraio, a simple lounger in wood, leather and fabric, represented by Toronto's RELATIVE SPACE...
