RESOURCE OF THE WEEK

Strategies to encourage participation in Course Evaluations

Course Evaluations are available to students until May 1 (or until April 15 for units following the condensed period). Strategies that you can use to encourage student participation include:
  • Setting a goal for the class response rate – think big – and providing an incentive to the entire class (such as an additional review session) if the goal is met;
  • Asking students to bring their laptops and giving time during class to complete their evaluations – you must leave the room during this process;
  • Letting students know how you have changed the course in response to previous feedback.
More strategies are available here. Questions? Contact mercury.info@mcgill.ca.
